Role Summary
We are looking for a dedicated and empathetic Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to provide specialized mental health services to residents in senior living settings. The role involves conducting patient rounds in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and other senior care environments, delivering psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and therapeutic support. The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for geriatric mental health and a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for older adults. Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct on-site psychiatric evaluations and manage medication for patients in skilled nursing, assisted living, and long-term care facilities.
- Coordinate care with attending physicians, consultants, referral sources, and facility staff.
- Perform comprehensive physical examinations, gather detailed medical histories, and document findings.
- Order necessary laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures.
- Analyze and synthesize data to establish preliminary diagnoses and therapeutic plans.
- Prescribe and administer medications and injections as clinically indicated.
- Educate patients and their families about medications, post-admission care, and treatment plans.
- Promote health education and illness prevention strategies among patients.
- Collaborate with physicians to address the acute healthcare needs of patients.
- Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from ANCC.
- Possession of a DEA license.
- BLS and ACLS certification.
- Current state licensure.
