Pipefitter (Mechanical Systems Specialist)

The Masterson Company, Inc. is seeking a skilled Pipefitter to maintain, assemble, and install pipe systems, supports, and related equipment to support facility and manufacturing processing routes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and repair a variety of existing pipes, plumbing, and pumps, including welding, pipefitting, soldering, cutting, bending, threading, and brazing.
  • Assemble and install new projects, which may include welding, sanitary welding, pipefitting, soldering, drilling/mounting holes, installing ceiling hangers, etc.
  • Maintain and monitor the performance of Powerhouse Operations and related equipment, including boiler, water treatment, water chiller equipment, etc.
  • Operate boiler, start up, and shut down steam generation for plant use, complete boiler conduct water testing, and adjust water treatment chemical feed levels based on findings.
  • Perform boiler blow down on a routine basis, inspect boiler safety switches to ensure functionality, respond to boiler alarms, diagnose, and correct any issues.
  • Understand the use of steam tables, design differences, and applications of steam traps, methods to size steam supply piping and condensate return lines, and install the aforementioned.
  • Read drawings, blueprints, and interpret various specifications and manage all aspects of piping systems and pipe installations.
  • Perform facility and utility maintenance, including radiators, drains, air compressors, air conditioners, and toilets.
  • Welding using sanitary TIG welding techniques to repair and/or update existing processing systems.
  • Responsible for maintaining cleanliness of maintenance shop and recording materials used, assist in maintaining parts and supplies inventory, and reporting low inventory levels to appropriate personnel.
  • Adhere to all GMP, including sanitary requirements, safety, Food Safety, and standardized work procedures.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required, but a Technical degree in Pipe Trades, Preparatory Plumbing, Boilers, or related field is strongly preferred.
  • ~3-5 years of relevant experience or equivalent education in a related field.
  • ~Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • ~Proficient interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written, with the ability to interact with all levels of staff.
  • ~Experience with Computer Maintenance Management Systems is preferred.
  • ~Ideal candidate will have 2+ years in food or beverage manufacturing environment.
