Job Overview

The Respiratory Therapist plays a vital role in addressing the complex respiratory care needs of patients across various age groups. As a key member of the healthcare team, this position involves applying scientific knowledge to evaluate patient needs, execute advanced therapeutic procedures, and provide education to patients and their families about respiratory issues.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate patient respiratory care needs and make recommendations according to policy and protocol guidelines.
  • Perform advanced evaluation, management, and therapeutic procedures for patients requiring respiratory assistance.
  • Complete and document required education and competencies within designated timeframes.
  • Accurately complete all necessary documentation and billing.
  • Facilitate smooth transitions for patients to appropriate referral services or next points of care, providing education on respiratory issues as needed.
  • Instruct and train other respiratory care staff, nursing personnel, and students regarding patient needs and respiratory care services.
Qualifications
  • Required: Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in pulmonary rehabilitation, respiratory care, sleep medicine, or equivalent clinical education.
  • LIC-Respiratory Therapist (STATE_MI) upon hire.
  • CRT-Respiratory Therapist Registry (NBRC) upon hire.
  • CRT-Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications within 90 days.
