Position: Police Officer Trainee

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
  • Work collaboratively with various community groups
  • Prepare detailed reports and provide testimony in court settings
  • Partner with community leaders to promote crime prevention strategies
  • Assist in the creation of initiatives aimed at reducing crime
  • Complete all assigned responsibilities as needed

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Valid driver's license from NC or SC, or the ability to obtain one
  • No felony convictions or serious misdemeanors, including DWI/DUI, within the last five years
  • Successful completion of both written and physical assessments
  • Capability to wear a gas mask and pass an OSHA fit test
  • Clear background check
  • Honorable discharge from military service (if applicable)
  • Approval from the Civil Service Board
  • Normal color vision with corrected visual acuity of 20/30 binocularly
  • Passing results on a pre-employment drug screening

Compensation: The starting salary is $52,751, contingent upon experience and educational background.

Employment Conditions:

The City of Charlotte requires comprehensive background checks, including reference checks, social security verification, educational background, and criminal history, in compliance with federal and state regulations. Final candidates will undergo drug screening and physical examinations. The City is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
