This position is responsible for the maintenance and operational efficiency of packaging machinery within the production environment. The role is crucial in promoting safe work practices and contributing innovative ideas to enhance workplace efficiency. The technician plays a vital role in achieving the company’s objectives of becoming a leading, cost-effective, and high-quality producer in the industry.
Key Responsibilities
Operate and maintain line equipment, providing training to production staff on the correct use of machinery while ensuring compliance with all filling and assembly standards related to packaging processes. This includes monitoring material productivity, mean time to repair (MTTR), mean time before failure (MTBF), and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), while adhering to established company performance indicators, including safety, quality, cost, and service. Conduct setup, sanitation verification, daily startup procedures, tuning, and repairs of packaging machinery to meet production requirements, ensuring optimal machinery operation and assisting fellow technicians with changeovers. Adhere to safety protocols to prevent contamination and ensure personal and team safety. Lead and perform routine preventive maintenance on all packaging equipment to guarantee peak performance levels. Supervise production personnel, fostering teamwork and applying leadership principles to ensure adherence to quality and safety standards in line with company policies and operational procedures. Maintain an organized and clean work environment. Assess product quality and assist in troubleshooting operational challenges. Utilize a defined trigger-point system to communicate production issues to management effectively. Collaborate with various departments, including Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Inventory Control, to expedite problem resolution. Perform root cause analysis during troubleshooting, employing scientific methods to identify issues, propose solutions, implement countermeasures, and establish monitoring controls. Document findings accordingly. Enhance production efficiency by streamlining work processes and creating instructional materials for skill development, with engineering approval for any necessary modifications to machine parts. Provide guidance and support to fellow technicians in the disassembly, sanitation, and reassembly of packaging machinery as required. This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary. Work Hours - 8 hours per day, Monday to Friday (40 hours per week)

Skills & Competencies
Proven experience in a production maintenance environment, demonstrated through successful completion of technical knowledge assessments and mechanical aptitude evaluations. Must exhibit competencies required for this role, including proficiency with hand and power tools, familiarity with maintenance manuals, and understanding of basic electrical and pneumatic systems. Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting, actively participating in discussions and contributing to problem-solving efforts. Capable of inspecting components for quality compliance, verifying date codes, and ensuring accurate product labeling. Must adhere to all safety regulations and protocols applicable to the production area. Comprehensive understanding of operational procedures to assist supervisors in developing and executing training plans for production staff. Physical capability to perform tasks such as stooping, crouching, kneeling, and lifting up to 60 pounds for machinery operation and maintenance. Manual dexterity to manipulate and assemble small machinery components. Flexibility to adapt to shift changes as required by business needs.
