Join the State of Missouri's Department of Mental Health in Fulton, MO, as a Recreation or Music Therapist at the Nixon Forensic Center. As a vital member of an interdisciplinary treatment team, you will work with clients who have mental illnesses and have committed crimes. Many clients have trauma histories, increasing the likelihood of reoffending. Our treatment program focuses on self-regulation and self-management skills within a respectful, recovery-based environment. Responsibilities include planning and conducting groups, case management, attending treatment team meetings, and completing required documentation and assessments. A degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Music Therapy, or a closely related field is required. Successful candidates will demonstrate compassion and the ability to work in a trauma-informed and recovery-based environment. The State of Missouri offers an excellent benefit package, including affordable health, vision, and dental insurance, paid basic life insurance, deferred compensation opportunities, MOSERS retirement, and 13 paid holidays per year. You will also receive 10 hours of annual leave and 10 hours of sick leave accrued per month when hired, increasing with service. The Nixon Forensic Center is certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and accredited by The Joint Commission since 1984.
