Job Title: RF Engineer

We are seeking an experienced RF Engineer to join our team at Access Laser CO. As an RF Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing high-power amplifiers and RF circuits for our CO2 laser systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and simulate RF and analog circuits, with a focus on high-power amplifiers and frequencies in the range of 10's-100's MHz.
  • Develop Proof of Concept (POC) designs, covering requirements definition, circuit simulation, schematic capture, PCB layout, lab testing, troubleshooting, optimization, and documentation.
  • Drive Product Development, including executing POC steps, conducting Design for Manufacturability (DFx) iterations, ensuring design compliance, performing rigorous verification and validation, running accelerated lifetime tests, and producing detailed documentation.
  • Contribute to all phases of design reviews, including conceptual, preliminary, and critical stages.
  • Prepare test reports and procedures for prototypes, first articles, Verification & Validation (V&V), DFx, and related activities.
Secondary Responsibilities:
  • Support production by designing test fixtures, developing test automation, and writing test procedures.
  • Provide engineering and technical support for the sustaining of all products released for manufacturing.
  • Address design changes and quality issues.
  • Manage component-related issues, including end-of-life, quality, shortages, and long lead times.
  • Mitigate risks through testing and validation for alternate component sourcing.
Requirements:
  • M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 3 years of experience, or B.Sc. with more than 5 years of experience.
  • Ability to work under general supervision, following established procedures.
  • Frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques, particularly in areas such as circuit theory, RF concepts and applications, RF power amplifier design, synthesizers, PLLs, power oscillators, mixers, and switching power supplies.
  • Experience with EDA tools for PCB layout (e.g., Altium).
  • Experience with RF simulation software (e.g., ADS, AWR).
  • Knowledge or experience in designing for EMC or similar regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency with lab test equipment, including vector network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, power meters, oscilloscopes, etc.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Desirable Skills:
  • In-depth understanding of physical phenomena involved in high-power and high-frequency (10's-100's MHz) circuit design.
  • Laser industry experience.
  • Experience in designing for EMC or similar regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of microwave engineering concepts (e.g., distributed circuits, transmission lines).
