About the RoleWe are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Peer Specialist to join our team at the Veterans Health Administration. As a Peer Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing mental health support to our Veterans, helping them to achieve their recovery goals and improve their overall well-being.
Key Responsibilities- Provide peer support services to Veterans, including counseling, coaching, and advocacy.
- Assist Veterans in developing and implementing recovery plans, including setting goals and identifying resources.
- Participate in interdisciplinary treatment teams to provide input and support to Veterans.
- Model healthy coping mechanisms and self-care practices to support Veterans in their recovery journey.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care and support for Veterans.
- Must be a Veteran who has recovered or is recovering from a mental health condition.
- Must have a valid and unrestricted driver's license for the state in which you are employed.
- Must be certified by a not-for-profit entity engaged in peer specialist training or a State as having satisfied relevant State requirements for a peer specialist position.
- Must have at least 1 year of recovery from a mental health condition.
