Vast is a pioneering company in the field of space exploration, aiming to create a future where billions of people can live and thrive in space. We are currently developing artificial gravity space stations, which will enable long-term stays in space without the adverse effects of zero-gravity.

As a Staff Propulsion Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the development of the systems required for the design and build of these space stations. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the successful translation of designs into spacecraft.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of spacecraft and/or launch vehicle propulsion systems and fluid components. Experience with CAD packages, finite element analysis software, and a good understanding of fatigue, fracture, and crack propagation are also highly desirable.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing propulsion thrusters, fluid components, tanks/pressure vessels, and/or fluid systems specific to spacecraft serving space stations
  • Assuming profound responsibility for critical spacecraft propulsion hardware/systems
  • Interfacing with a world-class production team to ensure successful translation of designs into spacecraft

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, manufacturing engineering, materials engineering, mechanical engineering, or physics, and 7+ years of mechanical or fluids design, analysis, or build experience.

Preferred skills and experience include advanced degrees, strong understanding of spacecraft and/or launch vehicle propulsion systems, and experience with CAD packages and finite element analysis software.
