Position Overview:
The Metal Fabrication Specialist is tasked with the operation of various fabrication equipment, including cutoff saws, shears, rolls, brakes, presses, forming machines, spinning machines, and punches. These machines are essential for cutting, shaping, and bending metal plates, sheets, tubes, and structures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate machinery in both the Fabrication and Machine Shops.
- Interpret job specifications to ascertain necessary machine adjustments and material needs.
- Set stops or guides to the specified lengths as indicated by measurement tools.
- Align workpieces against stops or layout marks with precision.
- Initiate machine operation by activating controls.
- Monitor machine performance to identify any defects in workpieces or malfunctions.
- Measure dimensions of workpieces to ensure operational accuracy.
- Remove any burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale from workpieces as needed.
- Conduct minor maintenance on machines, including lubrication of parts.
- Perform additional tasks as directed by supervisory personnel.
- Demonstrate the ability to follow detailed written or verbal instructions.
- Maintain physical activity including standing, walking, and using hands for handling tools and materials.
- Lift and/or move weights of 10 lbs regularly, with the ability to frequently lift 25 lbs and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
- Undertake other assigned duties as necessary.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
- A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience or training in a similar capacity.
- At least 1 year of experience in a manufacturing setting.
Skills and Competencies:
- Proficient in reading a tape measure.
- Capable of accurately counting parts and reporting figures.
- Able to regularly lift weights exceeding 50 lbs.
- Strong focus on task completion.
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team.
- Willingness to assist in various departments as business needs arise.
