Patient Care Assistant

We are seeking a skilled Patient Care Assistant to join our team at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital. As a Patient Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing support to our patient care team and directly attending to the needs of our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Provide constant observation and monitoring of assigned patients to ensure safety and prevention of injury.
- Receive report from the RN/Charge RN, including any patient specific behaviors to monitor.
- Courteously greet patients and their visitors, identify self, and explain purpose utilizing AIDET communication model.
- Observe and report to the RN/Charge RN all patient concerns or changes in condition.
- Promptly call for assistance as needed.
- Provide care within trained job responsibilities.
- Assist patient to restroom and stays with the patient in order to keep the patient safe. Walks patient in corridor as needed.
- Does not leave patient unless relieved by another staff member.
- Notifies RN/Charge RN if tubes, IV, catheter, etc. become disconnected.
- Reports defective equipment to RN/Charge RN.
- Accompanies the patient to other areas of the hospital for diagnostic tests or upon transfer to other units.
- Utilizes appropriate patient handling equipment according to patient's care plan.
- Transports patient equipment and patient belongings as required with the patient.
- Maintains a safe orderly and well-equipped environment.
- Keeps patient room neat and orderly.
- Evaluates patient's environment for possible hazards and removes the hazards.
- Washes hands before and after patient contact and follows personal protective equipment (PPE) as appropriate.
- Follows isolation procedures according to the Infection Control Policy.
- Competently utilizes technology to document as appropriate.
- Demonstrates understanding of the use of unit technology i.e. call systems, bed controls and TV controls.
- High School Diploma/GED Required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association within 30 days.
- Successful completion of Hospital Patient Care Sitter course prior to working a shift as a patient sitter.
