The Dispatcher plays a crucial role in ensuring the seamless coordination of driver services, managerial requests, and customer support.
Preferred Experience: Candidates with a background in waste management or transportation are highly valued.
Key Responsibilities
1. Utilize a multi-line radio system to assign drivers to service requests, optimizing routes for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
2. Serve as a communication bridge between customers, customer service representatives, supervisors, and other departments to facilitate service coordination.
3. Proactively identify and address potential delivery and service challenges to maintain service continuity.
4. Conduct data entry, ensure accurate customer records, and generate reports as needed, with a strong focus on detail and accuracy.
5. Monitor driving conditions using Nextraq and relay this information to ensure timely service delivery.
6. Regularly assess route efficiency and suggest improvements to enhance productivity.
7. Report any mechanical issues or vehicle breakdowns to maintenance for prompt repairs.
8. Maintain a comprehensive understanding of company and industry products and services.
9. Engage in departmental and company-wide training sessions to enhance skills and service quality.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
• Exceptional customer service skills and proficiency in radio/telephone communication.
• Familiarity with modern office practices and standard software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and GPS navigation tools.
• Knowledge of the geography of the Los Angeles Metro Area and its surroundings.
Required Abilities:
• Efficiently dispatch drivers to service locations using established systems.
• Actively listen and resolve concerns from staff and customers.
• Anticipate the needs of staff and customers and recommend suitable actions.
• Maintain a positive demeanor with both customers and colleagues.
• Build trust and credibility with customers and coworkers through accountability.
• Foster a collaborative team environment by promoting inclusion and support among colleagues.
• Demonstrate initiative and effectively manage time and productivity through multitasking.
• Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally (via radio and phone) and in writing (forms, systems, and email).
• Acquire knowledge of the products and services provided by Universal Waste Systems, Inc.
• Achieve a typing speed of 40 WPM.
Education, Training & Experience
1. High school diploma or GED is preferred.
2. A minimum of two years of relevant experience is required.
3. Experience in the resource recovery sector is advantageous.
4. Bilingual candidates (Spanish) are encouraged to apply.
