Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Curriculum Development
    • Assist in the development and implementation of planned activities.
    • Support the implementation of all After School Program activities.
    • Maintain an up-to-date list of inventory site supplies.
    • Implement assigned duties by the Head Site Supervisor and/or After School Program Coordinator.
    • On a rotational basis with other assistants, plan and lead an activity/club.
  • Records Management
    • Assist with student attendance records with the Head Site Supervisor.
    • Maintain count of daily snacks served in the absence of the Head Site Supervisor.
    • Assists and submits incident reports in the absence of the Head Site Supervisor.
  • Professional Work Environment
    • Support and encourage the Head Site Supervisor in their efforts to establish a well-planned, structured, and nurturing environment for the children and the staff.
    • Appropriately respond to children's intellectual, emotional, social, and physical needs.
    • Support and encourage positive group dynamics by being an active role model as a team player rather than an observer.
    • Provide positive discipline in accordance with the YWCA After School Program policies.
  • Other Obligations
    • Attend and participate in staff orientation, site meeting, monthly staff meetings, and parent orientation.
    • Implement duties as assigned by the Head Site Supervisor and/or After School Program Coordinator.
    Work Schedule

The Assistant Teacher will work a regular school week from 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday. On early dismissal days, the hours will be from 12:30 PM to 6:00 PM. During school vacations and full days, the hours will be from 7:15 AM to 6:00 PM. Additionally, the Assistant Teacher will be required to work 2.5 hours per week for preparation and planning.

Physical Demands
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate computer keyboard and other office equipment.
  • Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or on the telephone.
