Position Summary:
Dobbs Equipment is in search of an Equipment Cleaning and Maintenance Technician. This role is pivotal in ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of our equipment inventory.
Key Responsibilities: To excel in this position, the individual must competently execute the following essential duties:
- Operate independently with minimal supervision.
- Complete all necessary documentation related to job responsibilities.
- Thoroughly wash and sanitize machinery and equipment.
- Conduct inspections and manage check-out and check-in processes.
- Record the condition of equipment before and after use.
- Assist with routine inspections, minor repairs, and general upkeep.
- Maintain equipment inventory systems in accordance with established procedures.
- Ensure the wash rack sump and separator tanks are maintained to meet environmental compliance standards.
- Support in preparing and packaging shipments; deliver parts and components to clients as required.
- Adhere to safety protocols at all times and comply with company policies and standards.
- Demonstrate regular and punctual attendance.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
- Engage in all training programs as directed by the Service Manager.
- Keep a tidy work environment and execute tasks in an organized manner.
- Report any tools, equipment, or vehicles that are unsafe or not in working condition to the Service Manager.
- Always represent the dealership in a professional manner.
- Possess the ability to operate equipment as necessary.
Qualifications: The following qualifications are essential for this role:
- Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Familiarity with industrial equipment maintenance and operation.
- Capability to perform basic repairs and maintenance using specialized tools and following Technical Manual guidelines.
- Ability to safely operate heavy machinery within the shop environment.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or a combination of both (preferred).
- Stay updated with technical advancements.
- Proficient understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Maintain current knowledge of John Deere and competing products.
- Forklift Certification is preferred.
- Effective communication skills with team members.
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent time management capabilities.
- Self-motivated and able to manage tasks independently.
- Flexible availability, including weekends or overtime as needed.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and maintenance manuals.
- Proficient in documenting diagnoses and work completed on routine reports.
- Ability to apply common sense to follow instructions in various formats.
- Develop skills in disassembly, assembly, and repair of components and machinery.
- Basic arithmetic skills for measurements and calculations.
- Quick learner with innovative thinking abilities.
- Minimal overnight travel (less than 5%) for training purposes.
- Bilingual skills are a plus.
Work Environment:
This position involves working in a service shop setting, where the employee may encounter varying temperatures, wet or humid conditions, noise, vibration, fumes, odors, dust, and proximity to moving mechanical parts.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands outlined here are essential for successfully performing the core functions of this role. While executing job duties, the employee is continuously required to:
- Utilize Personal Protective Equipment, including respirators, welding shields, hard hats, vests, safety glasses, goggles, gloves, etc.
- Exhibit full range of motion for back, arms, hands, and fingers.
- Demonstrate full leg mobility, including climbing, twisting, squatting, and pushing.
- Employ hand tools, fuel hoses, and lubrication systems on all equipment.
- Climb onto or descend from mobile construction equipment, typically 3-4 feet high, for servicing and inspection.
- Frequently lift or carry loads between 50 lbs and 75 lbs.
- Meet specific vision requirements, including close, distance, and color vision.
- Communicate effectively in moderate noise levels.
