Overview

AmeriGas, the nation's largest propane distributor, has immediate openings for safety-minded, customer-focused Transport Drivers at various locations across the United States.

Job Description

As a Transport Driver, you will drive a tanker truck (11,400 gallon capacity) to pick up propane at supply points and deliver it to area AmeriGas facilities. You will make four to five pick-ups and deliveries per day, driving an average of 500 miles per day and working up to 14 hours per day.

Duties include:

  • Driving the tanker truck to pick up propane and deliver it to area facilities
  • Loading or unloading the truck at supply points and AmeriGas facilities
  • Attaching terminal hoses to pump propane into the tanker and unloading it from the tanker
  • Performing twice daily truck inspections
  • Climbing ladders to check gauges at the top of bulk tanks at some AmeriGas facilities
Salary and Benefits

The pay for this position ranges from $28.36 to $29.36, depending on your skills, qualifications, experience, and certifications. Additional compensation includes eligibility to earn a performance-based bonus or commissions on completed sales.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • At least three years of tractor and trailer experience with 200,000 miles minimum
  • One year of tanker experience within the last three years, preferred
  • Hazmat and tanker endorsements
  • Eligibility for a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC)
  • No accidents in the previous three years
  • No more than one moving violation in the previous two years
