Job Summary:
As a Pharmacist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective administration of medication therapy. Your responsibilities will encompass supporting the medication-use systems and delivering optimal pharmaceutical care to pediatric patients facing various medical challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Deliver patient-centered pharmaceutical care throughout the hospital (70% of your role).
2. Collaborate with medical and nursing staff to make informed decisions regarding medication use, including:
- Selection of non-drug therapies
- Medication selection and dosage determination
- Monitoring medication therapy and providing necessary information to patients and families.
3. Maintain comprehensive medication profiles for each patient, ensuring thorough review and screening for potential drug interactions and contraindications before dispensing medications.
4. Accurately calculate pediatric dosages and prepare both sterile and non-sterile compounded medications, while closely monitoring therapy and addressing any concerns with prescribers.
5. Participate in emergency medical management and document all interventions and consultations.
6. Engage in pharmacy operations and medication dispensing (30% of your role), including:
- Managing controlled substance records and inventory
- Assisting in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and therapeutic outcomes.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Graduate of an ACPE accredited pharmacy program
- Active pharmacist license in good standing in Missouri
- Minimum of 3 years of pharmacist experience or 2 years of experience within the Ranken Jordan Pharmacy.
Preferred:
- Experience in pediatric healthcare
- 1-3 years of hospital pharmacy experience.
Physical Demands:
Ability to perform various physical activities, including walking, stooping, kneeling, and lifting light loads (up to 35 lbs) as necessary.
