Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Van Driver to provide safe and compassionate transportation for passengers to their designated destinations. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of experience as a van driver, client transportation, a clean driving record, and must be able to pass a drug test and background check.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide safe and secure transportation for passengers to their destinations.
  • Assist passengers with entering medical facilities, rehabilitation centers, or residences as needed.
  • Safely load, secure, and unload wheelchair-bound passengers using wheelchair-accessible vehicles.
  • Comply with HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Apply defensive driving techniques to ensure the safety and well-being of all passengers.
  • Complete required training, including annual Passenger Assistance Safety and Sensitivity (PASS) courses.
  • Maintain current certifications for CPR and Basic First Aid.
  • Adhere to company uniform standards and maintain a professional appearance.
  • Use the company vehicle exclusively for business purposes, complying with all traffic regulations.
  • Follow assigned routes and schedules, ensuring punctuality and reliability for all appointments.
  • Perform routine maintenance and safety checks on vehicles, promptly reporting any issues.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Clean and sanitize vehicles and equipment, report maintenance issues, and refuel as necessary.
  • Complete incident reports as required.
  • Utilize GPS, cell phones, and dispatch systems for safe and efficient navigation.
  • Comply with the company's drug-free policy, including random drug testing.
  • Acknowledge and comply with the use of audio and video surveillance in company vehicles.
Qualifications
  • A clean driving record with no major traffic violations or accidents in the last seven years.
  • Strong defensive driving skills with an emphasis on road hazard awareness and avoidance.
  • Successful completion of a background check and a clean DOT drug test.
  • Valid driver's license in accordance with Maryland or Tri-state regulations.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations.
  • Exceptional communication and customer service skills.
  • Flexibility to adapt to variable schedules and shifting demands.
  • Ability to safely load and unload passengers, including up to 420 lbs, using a manual ramp.
  • Willingness to work with passengers accompanied by service animals.
  • Must meet the minimum age requirement of 25 years for auto insurance coverage.
  • Ability to work shifts ranging from 8 to 12 hours, depending on trip demand.
  • Previous patient care experience is an advantage but not mandatory (training provided).
  • Physically capable of pushing, pulling, kneeling, twisting, and lifting as required.
  • A self-starter with the ability to work independently and maintain punctuality.
Compensation
  • Starting pay: $15-$17 per hour.
  • Bi-monthly pay (on the 15th & last day of month, unless it falls on a holiday or weekend).
  • Bonus opportunities.
  • Paid training.
Work Schedule
  • Weekdays and weekends, with weekends and evening shifts as needed.
  • Variable shift start and end times within operating hours of 6:30 am to 7:00 pm.
  • 8 to 12-hour shifts with overtime as required.
