Medical Assistant/Nurse Aide

This position provides quality service to patients in the clinic and via alternate communication methods. The successful candidate will assist medical providers, serve as a liaison between patients and providers, and perform medical reception and patient portal tasks as needed.
Key Responsibilities
• Become familiar with provider tendencies and patient conditions
• Distribute patient agendas and complete medication reconciliation
• Perform vital signs, acquire recent test results, and ascertain reason for visit
• Prepare patients and gather necessary information
• Report changes observed in patient condition or behavior
• Participate in quality assurance activities to monitor and improve patient care quality
• Complete forms and growth charts as appropriate
• Assist with examination, diagnostic, and treatment procedures
• Enter requisitions in EMR and prepare specimens
• Maintain a safe and healthy work environment
• Comply with established personal protective equipment requirements
• Prepare and administer medications and injections per provider
• Make timely call backs and inform patients of test results
• Schedule patient appointments and follow-up visits
• Answer and return phone calls
• Intake and check out of patients
• Ensure copays are collected at time of visit
• Manage patient information in Electronic Medical Records system
Requirements
• Previous experience in healthcare preferred (1-3 years)
• Experience as a Medical Assistant in a physician office practice setting preferred
• High school graduate or equivalent required
• Graduate of a program for Medical Assistant/Administrative Medical Assistant/Nurse Aide required
• Designation as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) preferred
• Basic Life Support/CPR certification required
• Strong written and oral communications and interpersonal skills
• Working knowledge of electronic medical records
• Computer knowledge and skills required
• Ability to work independently and as a team
• Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Good judgment and decision-making skills
• Comfortable discussing sensitive health issues with patients
• Ability to uphold patient confidentiality with utmost professionalism
