Job Description: Advanced Control Systems Engineer

Airgas is looking for an Advanced Control Systems Engineer to lead the design and implementation of Advanced Process Control (APC) technologies. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for identifying improvement opportunities and evaluating the impact of proposed APC applications on overall process performance.

  • Responsibilities:
  • Improvement Identification: Utilize air separation process expertise to identify and recommend opportunities where APC applications can enhance process efficiency, operational consistency, and the performance of the base process control layer.
  • Evaluation: Analyze the potential impact of proposed APC applications on overall process performance.
  • Project Planning: Assist in developing detailed project scopes, cost estimates, and economic benefit analyses for APC projects.
  • Critical Activity Identification: Identify and outline critical activities required for project success and collaborate across functions to support project requirements.
  • Schedule Management: Help define and maintain project schedules and budgets, ensuring alignment with project goals.
  • Activity Oversight: Monitor critical activities related to regulatory loop tuning, step testing, identification of key variables, model definition, and model implementation.
  • Expert Coordination: Collaborate with local and international experts to ensure that APC implementation is aligned with Quality-APC (Q-APC) expectations and standards.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Facilitate knowledge sharing and best practices among team members and stakeholders.
  • Weekly Meetings: Organize and conduct weekly review meetings with key project team members to track progress and address any emerging challenges or opportunities.
  • Project Closure: Ensure a seamless closeout of open projects by maintaining accurate project documentation and ensuring it is subject to review by relevant stakeholders.
  • Documentation: Keep all documentation organized and accessible for future reference and compliance audits.

Salary Range: $90,000 - $120,000 per year.
