Role Summary:
Dobbs Equipment is seeking a skilled Credit Manager to oversee the credit risk and receivables for a designated area, aiming to enhance profitability and market share. This role includes supervision of Retail Finance operations that facilitate customer financing for equipment, parts, services, and rentals acquired from Dobbs.
Key Responsibilities: To excel in this position, the individual must effectively manage the following duties:
- Lead the Credit team, focusing on staff development, coaching, and training to meet departmental objectives related to receivables collection, credit/account establishment, and issue resolution.
- Establish and enforce credit policies and procedures aligned with the company's risk tolerance and economic conditions, as sanctioned by senior management.
- Foster strong collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders (VPs, GMs, sales, and operations) through clear and consistent communication.
- Generate, analyze, and present daily, weekly, and monthly reports on outstanding receivables. Organize and conduct regular meetings with branch management to discuss overdue customer accounts.
- Handle collections for challenging and complex accounts, utilizing legal tools such as Notice to Owner and Release of Lien, and manage third-party collection efforts when necessary.
- Maintain low delinquency levels for assigned accounts by employing technology and strategic collection methods, including negotiating payment plans and conducting customer visits as required.
- Set and adjust credit limits as necessary, and review credit terms and override requests.
- Oversee collection agency and legal activities, collaborating with attorneys on legal proceedings including demand letters and lawsuits.
- Conduct ongoing credit assessments of new and existing clients using financial analysis, credit reports, and feedback from branches.
- Utilize tools to secure transactions with liens and file UCCs as required, while providing guidance to Branch Administrators on lien-related issues.
- Evaluate litigated and defaulted accounts based on risk and exposure, making recommendations for resolution to corporate management.
- Utilize the Collection Management System (CMS) to document account activity accurately.
- Assist in reconciling accounts and resolving cash misapplications.
- Manage customer PowerPlan and internal credit lines, ensuring necessary documentation is obtained.
- Engage directly with customers regarding account status, providing essential documentation to address outstanding issues.
Qualifications: The following qualifications are essential for this role:
- Valid Driver's License
- Experience in management
- Background in Credit and Collections
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance/Accounting or a minimum of three years in Credit and Collections.
- Effective communication skills (both verbal and written) with colleagues and clients.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Self-motivated and capable of managing tasks independently.
- Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
- Ability to follow written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions accurately.
- Mathematical proficiency in basic operations.
- Quick learner with innovative thinking capabilities.
- Positive attitude and excellent organizational skills.
- Understanding of credit and collections, with strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Adept at multitasking in a dynamic environment with effective follow-up.
- Ability to cultivate positive relationships internally and externally, holding team members and clients accountable.
- Familiarity with credit reporting agencies and basic financial statement analysis.
- Willingness to travel as required, up to 25%.
- Knowledge of relevant federal and state laws governing collection activities.
- Understanding of bankruptcy laws and Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) regulations.

Physical Demands:
The physical demands required to perform this job successfully include regular standing, using hands for handling tasks, reaching, and effective communication.
