Position Summary:
The Ground Systems Integration Engineer I will engage in Ground System Integration (GSI) requirement management tasks to support critical contracts within the NASA Exploration Ground Systems (EGS) Program. This role encompasses various elements of systems engineering, specification modification oversight, requirements management, and the verification and validation (V&V) of systems and subsystems associated with the EGS Program. The position requires a comprehensive focus on key components including the Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB), Launch Pad, and Mobile Launcher, along with necessary modifications to facilitate upcoming missions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in Systems Engineering, Systems Integration, Requirements Management, and V&V planning.
- Oversee and monitor program requirements in collaboration with Element Integration Teams (EITs) and the EGS Program.
- Lead the requirement change process, providing recommendations for approval or disapproval of Change Requests (CRs).
- Facilitate technical integration of requirement development and V&V planning, ensuring traceability and closure.
- Prepare and present status updates and data to various boards and meetings.
- Coordinate with Design and Operation Subsystem personnel for technical discussions.
- Manage EIT-owned Events in the Cradle database and present findings to control boards.
- Support EGS Milestone reviews by providing necessary documentation and innovative solutions.
- Develop action item presentations based on assigned tasks.
- Maintain requirements in the Cradle database and present updates to control boards.
Required Skills:
- 0 to 4 years of experience in Systems Engineering, Integration, V&V, and Requirements Management.
- Self-motivated with a strong capacity for innovative thinking.
- Ability to quickly comprehend SLS launch vehicle assembly and related processes.
- Strong communication skills with the capability to articulate technical issues effectively.
- Proficient in planning, executing, and managing ground processing and launch systems requirements.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is advantageous.
- Experience in leading technical discussions and meetings.
- Knowledge of the Mobile Launcher and its subsystems.
- Familiarity with Cradle/DOORS databases and SharePoint.
Educational Requirements:
Minimum: Bachelor's Degree
Preferred: Master's Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Aeronautical Engineering
