Draftsperson/Carpenter

The American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) at Harvard University seeks a skilled Draftsperson/Carpenter to join its scenic fabrication team. As a key member of the team, you will assist in drafting scenery, collaborate with the Technical Director, Purchaser, and Scenic Charge to ensure timely completion of construction projects while maintaining safety and quality standards.

• Oversee material acquisition, product research, and prototyping
• Assist the TD and Purchaser/Interim ATD in coordinating scheduling and staffing
• Facilitate efficient and reliable manufacturing, load-in, and strike processes
• Collaborate with the scenic fabrication team to execute scenic designs effectively
• Ensure adherence to budget and timelines while devising technical solutions mindful of production requirements

• Two years of college or equivalent and four years in a scenic fabrication environment
• Proficiency in engineering principles and their practical application to real-world challenges
• Proficient skills in AutoCAD, MS Outlook, and Excel
• Demonstrated expertise in adhering to safe and industry-standard rigging practices
• Ability to thrive in a demanding environment with multiple concurrent priorities

• Possession of a class D driver's license and proficiency in driving 26' trucks in urban settings
• ETCP certification
• Experience with TIG welding, CNC routing, sewing, Creative Conners, PRG Automation, Hudson Automation, Cybermotion, machining, wiring, budgeting, sculpting, painting, plastics fabrication techniques, aluminum fabrication, etc.
