We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Communication and Signals (C&S) team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supporting the implementation and improvement of change management processes and procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain process documentation, technology/software controls, and automatic reporting
- Administer and manage C&S Engineering's SharePoint page, hosting published standards and design documentation
- Lead the development and administration of configuration management systems and software to support C&S documentation and data
- Support document control and change management process to ensure train control design files, databases, software, etc. are current and properly maintained
- Lead and/or participate in meetings related to maintaining operation of C&S infrastructure, document and track required actions, and publish stakeholder documentation such as minutes, scorecards, and reports
- Serve as lead custodian for document and configuration management data in various systems
- Support the development of reporting on C&S system reliability
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with six years of relevant experience or ten years of equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Demonstrate experience in design and change management processes, project management, maintenance, and construction methods and planning/scheduling
- Strong working knowledge of railroad operations, construction, and maintenance practices
- Working knowledge of C&S equipment and infrastructure, including PTC systems, interlocking, ABS, crossing, and defect detection systems, voice radio systems, and network communication systems
- Knowledge of FRA standards, rules, and regulations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools, SharePoint, and ability to quickly learn and use configuration management and database software applications
- Prior satisfactory job performance is required
- Demonstrated experience in communication orally and in writing within and outside of the organization
- Ability to communicate with field personnel to ensure accuracy of signal system designs on file
- Ability to shift priorities at short notice
- Ability to organize and plan work
- Analyze situations and problems
- Ability to function in a stressful environment
- Master's degree in Engineering with eight years of relevant experience or twelve years of equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Experience in management of C&S design projects and operations management
- Extensive field knowledge of train control construction and maintenance practices
- Experience using Bentley Microstation Applications
- Qualified on NORAC, AMT-2, and RWP
This is a combination of office and field work. Must be able to work in the field under all weather conditions. Travel is required (up to 25%).
Communications and Interpersonal SkillsMust have excellent oral and written communication skills.
