Teaching and Mentoring Opportunity in Spanish Language and Culture

At Colorado State University Pueblo, we are seeking a highly qualified Professor of Spanish Language and Culture to join our esteemed faculty. As a key member of our World Language Program, you will have the opportunity to teach and mentor students in the Spanish language and culture.

About the Position

We are looking for an experienced educator with a strong background in Spanish language and culture. The successful candidate will have a Master's degree in Spanish, Hispanic Linguistics, or a related field and demonstrate a commitment to serving diverse populations and learners. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of college-level teaching experience and be able to teach a 4/4 load according to program needs and their area of expertise.

Responsibilities

The Professor of Spanish Language and Culture will be responsible for teaching courses in Spanish language and culture, including first, second, and possibly third-year level Spanish. They will also be expected to participate in ongoing professional development initiatives, attend program meetings, and other related events as necessary. The successful candidate will have a strong sense of collegiality and a willingness to participate in a unified and lively department.

Requirements
  • Master's degree in Spanish, Hispanic Linguistics, or a related field
  • Advanced Spanish proficiency as per ACTFL standards
  • Demonstrated ability to relate to and commitment to serving diverse populations and learners
  • At least one year of college-level teaching experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in French, Italian, or German
  • Training in ACTFL standards
  • Experience teaching Spanish courses at the college level
  • Experience teaching and/or designing face-to-face, online, and hybrid courses
  • Experience using Blackboard
  • Experience using and/or developing open educational resources

The estimated salary for this position is $41,000 to $42,000 per nine-month academic year, with additional compensation available for summer teaching.
