Job Description:

Under general direction, designs, builds, and repairs a variety of tools, jigs, fixtures, welding, brazing, and assembly fixtures. Analyzes specifications, lays out metal stock, sets up, and operates a wide variety of exact tolerance machine tools. Fits and assembles parts to fabricate and repair metal working dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and machinists' hand tools. Modifies dies to conform to engineering changes. Troubleshoots equipment and makes complex repairs. Provides assistance and guidance to apprentices and lower-level employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Designs, builds, and repairs tools, jigs, and fixtures
  • Operates exact tolerance machine tools
  • Fits and assembles parts
  • Modifies dies to conform to engineering changes
  • Troubleshoots equipment and makes complex repairs

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2-year degree or equivalent preferred
  • 3-5 years related experience
  • Expert knowledge of metalworking dies and tooling
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints and diagrams
  • Able to efficiently and accurately set up and operate exact tolerance machine tools
