Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management
    • Provide primary leadership and accountability for milieu management and directing patient care activities of other nursing staff.
  • Clinical Expertise
    • Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, intervene, implement, and evaluate patient care, formulating individualized plans of care and treatment modalities.
    • Identify risk levels, precautions, and expected outcomes, and initiate medical/psychiatric crisis intervention to stabilize and ensure patient well-being.
  • Medication Administration and Education
    • Administer medications as prescribed safely, and provide education on prescribed medications, recognizing signs and symptoms of adverse drug reactions.
  • Professional Development and Accountability
    • Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and responsibility for decision making, quality nursing care, and knowledge base of psychiatric nursing care.
    • Review, revise, and update medical records within facility guidelines and timeframes, and transcribe and implement physician's orders according to facility policy.
Requirements
  • Current RN licensure in the state of practice.
  • Experience in psychiatric nursing, with a focus on leadership and management.
  • Strong clinical skills and knowledge of psychiatric disorders and nursing interventions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
