Job Summary:

The Probation Officer - Medication Assisted Treatment Specialist will provide screening, treatment planning, case management, and court reporting for clients in need of medication assisted treatment (MAT). The ideal candidate will have experience working in the criminal justice/probation field and knowledge of evidence-based practices, including risk assessment, case planning, and effective communication strategies.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a caseload of clients and monitor their participation in treatment, with a special focus on those needing MAT.
  • Evaluate and initiate referrals for assistance through County, State, and Federal programs.
  • Participate in case conferences with the treatment team to develop and implement treatment plans.
  • Create and maintain partnerships with court, jails, commonwealth attorney, defense attorney, county, mental health, MAT providers, and other stakeholders.
  • Provide local probation and pretrial services to adults, including interviewing and supervising offenders and defendants, verifying information, and making written and oral reports to the court.
  • Conduct site/home visits, drug and alcohol testing, and court research to secure warrants and information needed to properly supervise clients.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Psychology, or related field, and two years of experience in a human services field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Knowledge of judicial system, field of corrections, and criminology, as well as working skills in caseload management, developing and implementing alternative treatment methods, and good oral and written communication, interpersonal, and public relations skills.
  • Experience working with court system, understanding of human behavior and relationships, and policies and procedures of criminal justice agencies.
  • Ability to obtain VCIN certification and complete REVIVE Train-the-Trainer course (NARCAN) within the first three months of employment.
