We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Medical Surgical team at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. As a Medical Surgical RN, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our team.
Key Responsibilities- Perform and accurately document physical, psychosocial, and emotional assessments of patients, taking into consideration age-specific criteria.
- Actively anticipate patient needs and expectations, and utilize these in conjunction with their assessment to develop an appropriate plan of care.
- Identify and implement appropriate nursing interventions based on the completed assessment, and complete accurate and timely documentation of interventions.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement a comprehensive plan of care, and actively involve patients in their care.
- Provide education to patients, families, and caregivers on various aspects of care, including discharge planning and medication management.
- Participate in evaluating data to guide decisions regarding unit/department budget formulation and implementation.
- Perform peer evaluations to provide constructive feedback to peers, and hold colleagues accountable for their behavior and compliance with policies and standards.
- Graduate of an accredited Nursing program.
- One (1) year of RN experience.
- Current Texas (or BNE Compact State) license.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- BSN preferred.
Medical/Surgical RNs at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center are scheduled 12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM to 7:00 PM) or 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM) and every other weekend at Clements University Hospital on UTSW's Dallas campus. On-call availability and some weekends are a requirement.
