Occupational Therapist

Evaluate and treat patients with functional limitations, impairments, and disorders through a variety of therapeutic techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
*Provide occupational therapy services to clients with upper extremity injuries, disease, or disability.
*Conduct comprehensive evaluations, including joint assessments, musculoskeletal functions, sensorimotor skills, and functional abilities.
*Develop and implement treatment plans based on evaluation data, and modify as needed to achieve goals.
*Utilize a range of occupational therapy techniques, including P/ROM, joint mobilization, massage, myofascial release, desensitization techniques, dressing changes, and job simulation.
*Apply thermal and electrical physical agent modalities, such as hot/cold packs, fluidotherapy, paraffin/contrast baths, ultrasound, phonophoresis, TENS, NMES, HVPGS, iontophoresis, and biofeedback.
*Fabricate custom splints, select and order adaptive devices and equipment, and train clients in their use.
*Communicate effectively with healthcare team members, including physicians, rehab nurses, case managers, employers, and family members, to ensure consistent quality care.
*Provide written status reports to referring physicians and other relevant parties as needed.
*Collaborate with the Industrial Service Department as required.
Education and Certifications:
*Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy program.
*Possess a valid license to practice as an Occupational Therapist in the State of Florida.
*American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Work Environment and Requirements:
*Work is performed in a medium-frequent, lifting and carrying equipment, supplies, and materials up to 50 pounds without mechanical assistance.
*Stooping, pushing, reaching, and pulling when moving patients or equipment into position for treatment.
*The majority of work is performed in air-conditioned areas, with occasional work in outside areas.
*Potential exposure to blood and blood-borne pathogens exists during clinical duties.
*Reasoning, mathematical, and English language skills are required.
*Ability to work at a fast pace, prioritize multiple assignments, and respond to numerous requests.
*Conflict resolution and collaborative work skills are essential.
*Minimal sustained direction is required for assessing needs and carrying out departmental and professional responsibilities.
*Self-starting and self-motivating, with work hours potentially exceeding eight hours per day based on work requirements.
