Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Residential Counselor to join our team. As a Residential Counselor, you will play a critical role in creating and maintaining a positive and supportive environment for our youth. You will work closely with our treatment team to develop and implement individualized service plans, provide behavioral support and intervention, and facilitate group activities and community service projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality care and support to youth in a residential setting, including documentation of daily activities and progress.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with youth, families, and colleagues.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Collaborate with the treatment team to develop and implement individualized service plans.
  • Facilitate group activities and community service projects that promote positive change and growth.
  • Provide behavioral support and intervention as needed.
  • Assist with medication administration and medical visits.
  • Participate in ongoing supervision and staff development training.
Requirements
  • At least six months of experience working with children with mental health diagnoses, preferably in a residential care setting.
  • Successful experience and demonstrated competence in working with youth in a group home or other residential setting.
  • Knowledge and understanding of cultural diversity and the impact of various socioeconomic characteristics on our youth.
  • Ability to provide sound documentation during routine shift coverage.
  • Strong relationship skills with youth and colleagues.
  • Ability to work effectively with others, including the treatment team and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to be flexible in work hours.
  • Ability to support constructive family contact and involvement in community activities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High-School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Up-to-date certification in the facility's Behavior Management Program.
  • Up-to-date certifications in approved courses for CPR/First Aid.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record (note: those who do not have a valid driver's license or an approved driving record will not be allowed to drive on behalf of Elk Hill).
Physical Requirements
  • Good physical health and ability to remain current with annual TB screening and other certifications.
  • Ability to physically perform all functions of the facility's Behavior Management Program.
  • Ability to traverse inside and outside of the property, including uneven terrain.
Travel Requirements
  • Periodic transportation of a client as needed or required.
