The Before and After School Program Assistant Supervisor plays a crucial role in supporting the Site Supervisor in managing the daily operations of the School Age Care program. This position is essential in fostering a nurturing, safe, and engaging environment for children.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in maintaining accurate attendance records for students and staff, ensuring all necessary documentation is submitted timely.
- Guarantee the safety of all participants by adhering to supervision standards and maintaining head counts during transitions.
- Oversee the sign-in and sign-out procedures, ensuring only authorized individuals are permitted to pick up children.
- Implement First Aid protocols and manage emergency situations, including completing required incident reports.
- Utilize effective group management techniques to address behavioral issues in accordance with established policies.
- Delegate daily responsibilities to staff, including activity leadership, snack assistance, and supervision during transitions.
- Promote YMCA programs and assist in organizing special events to enhance community engagement.
- Maintain a clean and organized environment, ensuring that all areas are sanitized and supplies are properly managed.
- Conduct monthly safety drills and document results to comply with licensing standards.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and training opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma required; further education in Education, Youth Work, or related fields preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups, including staff and parents.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Experience supervising staff and working with children in a group setting.
- Certifications in CPR, First Aid, and AED are mandatory.
Physical Requirements:
The role requires the ability to remain active and supervise children in various environments, necessitating physical stamina and the capability to lift up to 30 pounds.
Work Environment:
All candidates must be prepared to follow health and safety protocols, including personal protective measures and symptom screening.
