Job Title: Terrestrial Ecology Lead

We are seeking a highly skilled Terrestrial Ecology Lead to join our team at the Wildlife Conservation Society - Arctic Beringia Program. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in designing and implementing research efforts that support our programmatic goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement research efforts to support programmatic goals
  • Work with Indigenous partners and local landowners to develop and implement conservation projects
  • Conduct synthesis and modeling of existing data to inform conservation efforts
  • Develop and publish conservation-relevant materials, including peer-reviewed literature and popular media articles
  • Build and maintain relationships with agency, research, community, and Indigenous partners
  • Assist in identifying grant opportunities and developing strong proposals
Requirements:
  • PhD in natural science or environmental policy with at least three years of applied experience in wildlife management
  • Proven expertise in habitat selection modeling, resource selection functions, and assessment of wildlife movement from tracking data
  • Proven ability to write multi-partner and interdisciplinary proposals
  • Proven ability to work in a co-productive space with Indigenous partners
  • Strong communication skills with examples of published work in the written and online media
  • Fluency in English (written and verbal) language
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Preferred residency in Fairbanks
  • Expected travel: 10% time potentially traveling for field activities, meetings, and training
  • Comfortable operating in a dynamic environment and responding quickly to sudden needs and opportunities
  • Self-Reliance in Remote Work Environments
