Cashier Job Summary

The Cashier will be responsible for conducting monetary transactions with customers using cash registers, electronic scanners, and related equipment. This role requires excellent customer service skills and the ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Greet customers and provide a positive shopping experience
  • Process transactions, including handling cash, checks, and credit/debit cards
  • Assist customers with questions or price discrepancies
  • Ensure accurate transactions by balancing cash register at the beginning and end of shift
  • Process returns and exchanges according to store policy
  • Identify prices of products and services and tabulate bills with available equipment
  • Assist customers in locating products, resolving complaints, or providing information
  • Bag, box, and wrap purchased items
  • Maintain proficiency in all organizational safe working policies and practices
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Successful completion of on-the-job training
  • Six months of related experience preferred
  • Ability to read, write, understand, and relay written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to operate available equipment, such as cash registers, calculators, or scanners
  • Basic mathematical skills, as needed to make change and give refunds
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods of standing and working on cash register or related equipment
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Ability to push/pull up to 50 pounds regularly
  • Must be in adequate physical condition to perform requirements
Other Requirements:
  • Must be able to successfully pass pre-employment and required drug screens as requested
  • Must be able to successfully pass a Physical Capacity Assessments as requested
