Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Realty Specialist to join our team at the US Fish and Wildlife Service. As a Realty Specialist, you will be responsible for acquiring and managing real estate and land interests for the Alaska Region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Acquire real property interests through donations, easements, exchanges, deed restrictions, leases, cooperative efforts, and fee acquisitions.
  • Prepare realty documents and acquisition agreements, including exchange agreements, donations, leases, and easements.
  • Administer contracts with title companies and abstractors to meet title curative requirements.
  • Negotiate with private landowners, government agencies, corporations, civic organizations, and non-profit associations for the acquisition of property.
  • Work with other realty specialists, attorneys, title companies, taxing authorities, and the Office of the Solicitor on title curative actions.
Requirements
  • One year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility equivalent to grade GS-09 in the Federal service.
  • Experience in land acquisition and land exchange transactions, rights-of-way, and/or special use permits.
  • Knowledge of federal land acquisition policies, including the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act and the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act.
Education

A degree in a discipline related to the position being filled, such as real estate, law, or a related field, is also acceptable.

Additional Information

This position is suitable for telework and may be allowed to telework with supervisory approval. The US Fish and Wildlife Service provides reasonable accommodations to applicants with disabilities. The position is entitled to a 1.69% cost-of-living allowance (COLA) as determined by the US Fish and Wildlife Service.
