Journeyman Electrician Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Journeyman Electrician to join our team at the Oklahoma City Zoo & Botanical Garden. As a key member of our Maintenance Services department, you will be responsible for installing and maintaining electrical power, lighting, and control systems to support and model our mission, vision, and values.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Read and interpret blueprints and technical diagrams to ensure accurate installation and maintenance of electrical systems.
  • Install and maintain commercial wiring, control, and lighting systems, including EMT conduit and 3-phase systems.
  • Inspect and identify electrical problems using a variety of testing devices, and repair or replace electrical components as needed.
  • Service, troubleshoot, and install low-voltage controls and lighting systems.
  • Follow state and local building regulations based on the National Electrical Code.
  • Assist the licensed electrical contractor as needed, and communicate with and be overseen by the contractor on any permits and inspections.
  • Daily interaction with guests while on grounds, and participate in conservation activities to support our mission.
Requirements:
  • Two (2) years of experience as a commercial journeyman level electrician, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • High School diploma or G.E.D., with vocational/technical school certification preferred.
  • Valid Oklahoma motor vehicle operator's license, and an active Unlimited Commercial Electrical Journeyman's License for the State of Oklahoma and City of Oklahoma City.
  • Must be safety-sensitive, and subject to pre-employment and/or periodic background checks, including MVRs, and drug testing.
