Select Medical's Inpatient Rehabilitation Hospitals provide advanced treatment and comprehensive care to best address the medical, physical, emotional and vocational challenges for individuals with various conditions including Brain Injury, Spinal Cord Injury, Stroke, Amputation, Neurological Disorders, Orthopedic Conditions, and Multiple Traumas.


Job Responsibilities as a Respiratory Therapist

As a Respiratory Therapist at Select Medical Rehabilitation Hospital - Temple, you will perform basic and advanced therapeutic procedures under the scope of respiratory care services. You will transcribe and implement physician orders in a timely manner, using your assessment skills to maintain awareness and coordinate patient care needs.


  • Perform advanced life support procedures including tracheal intubation, coordinating patient's respiratory care plans and needs with physicians, nursing, and ancillary staff.
  • Confer with physicians to formulate alternative forms of therapy according to patient need.
  • Initiate patient-ventilator weaning procedures under the direction of the physician.
  • Perform routine and emergent trach tube changes.
  • Maintain awareness of patient pH/electrolyte balance, ABG values, renal, neurological, and orthopedic functions as applicable to the delivery of respiratory care.

Required Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must possess an 'Active' credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or state equivalent, BLS certification, current state Licensure, and ACLS required upon hire.
