Position Overview:
The Network Support Specialist will provide comprehensive network support to the Conceras organization. This role is essential in ensuring the secure and efficient operation of local networks. The contractor personnel will be responsible for site surveys, network equipment installation, configuration, and troubleshooting while maintaining industry and Navy standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Site Surveys & Equipment Transport:
- Perform site surveys of Conceras facilities in accordance with industry standards and best practices.
- Transport and install network equipment to designated locations as required.
- Network Administration:
- Serve as network administrator for large local systems, responsible for configuring hubs, switches, and routers.
- Monitor network performance, conduct network diagnostics, analyze traffic patterns, and maintain security through roles such as Network Security Officer, Firewall Administrator, Intrusion Detection System Administrator, Wireless (Wi-Fi/WIDS) Manager, or Videoconference Manager.
- Network Infrastructure Implementation:
- Support local project implementation to provide network services for business requirements.
- Plan, design, develop, and integrate network systems consistent with existing or planned network infrastructures.
- Network Equipment Installation and Support:
- Configure, install, test, and document complex wired and wireless (Wi-Fi/WIDS/RFID) network architectures and component configurations.
- Support ongoing infrastructure upgrades, including installing, removing, and reinstalling network equipment such as switches, routers, and wireless access points.
- Install/mount network equipment inside network cabinets, closets, and safes.
- Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Update firmware on network devices, including switches, routers, ISP equipment, and wireless access points.
- Install network software updates, fixes, and upgrades.
- Troubleshoot network issues, such as outages, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Project Management & Coordination:
- Serve as the liaison between the contractor and the customer.
- Attend meetings with stakeholders to plan future projects that impact the organization.
- Support infrastructure upgrades by installing, removing, and reinstalling copper and fiber optic cabling.
- Equipment Handling & Transport:
- Transport equipment and tooling to designated locations as required.
- Ensure the contractor vehicle is regularly maintained and operable, minimizing downtime.
- Installation of Networking Components:
- Install and mount RFID readers, network cabinets, and wireless access points (AP).
Qualifications:
- Active Top Secret Security Clearance.
- Demonstrated experience in network administration, configuration, and support.
- Familiarity with industry standards and best practices.
- Proficiency in configuring and managing hubs, switches, routers, and wireless access points.
- Experience with copper and fiber optic cable installations.
- Ability to transport and install network equipment in various locations.
- Strong communication and coordination skills, especially in high-security environments.
