Intellectual Property Counsel

Bio-Rad Laboratories, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Intellectual Property Counsel to join its global Life Sciences Group. This position reports to the VP, Asst. General Counsel Intellectual Property.

• Develop and Manage Patent Portfolio: Develop and manage the company's patent portfolio, ensuring strategic alignment with business objectives.
• Provide Trademark Advice: Provide expert advice on trademark matters, including clearance, registration, and enforcement.
• Analyze Third-Party Patents: Analyze third-party patents and freedom-to-operate studies to identify potential risks and opportunities.
• Draft and Negotiate IP Licensing Agreements: Draft and negotiate intellectual property licensing agreements with third parties.
• IP Due Diligence: Conduct intellectual property due diligence on potential acquisitions and partnerships.
• IP Monetization Strategy: Develop and implement an intellectual property monetization strategy to maximize revenue.
• IP Training and Counseling: Provide training and counseling to employees on intellectual property matters.

• Education: A JD from an accredited Law School is required. A degree in a Life Science field is an added benefit.
• Work Experience: 5-7 years of Intellectual Property Law experience in a law firm or corporation is required. Previous in-house experience in a life science or clinical diagnostics company is desired.
• Skills: Strong communications and negotiation skills. Strong interpersonal skills, working well with clients and colleagues.
