Qualifications
  • Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with 6-8 ELA Endorsement required.
Compensation
  • Salary is based on the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Champaign Federation of Teachers, which includes differentiated compensation for positions identified as "hard to fill." The complete salary schedule and list of hard-to-fill positions are accessible on our website.
  • Experienced educators may receive credit for up to 21 years of prior service outside the District.
  • New educators may request a salary advance of up to $2,000 to assist with relocation or other expenses.
  • The Board of Education currently covers 100% of a teacher's contributions to the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) and pays for employee-only health, dental, and term life insurance, with minimal costs for vision insurance.
  • Numerous opportunities exist for teachers to earn additional compensation through stipends, differentials, and extra duty pay during the academic year and summer.
  • An annual stipend of $1,500 is available for teachers holding national board certification from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.
  • Teachers hired into a full-time position in the CFT bargaining unit may be eligible for a sign-on bonus.
