Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant serves as a vital member of the healthcare team at El Rio Community Health Center, providing high-quality patient care and support in a fast-paced clinical environment. As a Medical Assistant, you will be responsible for providing direct patient care, performing clinical and non-clinical tasks, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Complete all clinical and non-clinical assigned duties, tasks, and responsibilities within reasonable time frames while meeting established rates of performance for the position.
Document all patient information, responses to inquiries, and actions into the patient's Electronic Health Record (EHR).
Assist, perform, or complete procedures and activities within the scope of practice for a Medical Assistant position while complying with all Nursing Policies and Procedures.
Anticipate, identify, and respond to the needs of patients based on their reason for the visit, including the coordination and availability of outside medical records, laboratory, and radiology results.
Complete all Provider Orders, ensuring that patients understand and verbalize their understanding of discharge instructions.
Document completed orders and actions taken by the Medical Assistant in the patient's Electronic Health Record (EHR) and submit for processing within the defined period.

Requirements:

High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (G.E.D.).
Medical Assistant Certificate from an approved and accredited educational institution.
Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers.
Level I fingerprint clearance card, current and in good standing, or have applied for it within seven working days after beginning employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

One year of experience as a Medical Assistant in an ambulatory healthcare setting.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) with the ability to speak, read, and write in both languages.
