Under the supervision of the Department Manager, the Imaging Technologist is responsible for performing diagnostic imaging procedures that ensure accurate radiologic assessments of patients.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Patient Interaction

a. Confirm the identity of the patient.

b. Assess the patient's understanding and compliance with examination requirements.

c. Provide clear instructions regarding preparation for imaging procedures.

d. Review requisition forms for accuracy and completeness.

e. Schedule imaging procedures to prevent interference from previous exams.

f. Ensure the safety and comfort of patients during procedures.

g. Communicate any delays to patients waiting for their appointments.

h. Obtain necessary patient consent for procedures.

i. Explain procedures to patients and their families.

2. Radiation Safety

a. Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of equipment and facilities.

b. Implement protective measures to minimize radiation exposure.

c. Inquire about pregnancy status in female patients of child-bearing age.

d. Utilize appropriate shielding techniques during imaging.

e. Monitor and document occupational exposure levels.

3. Equipment Operation

a. Prepare and operate various imaging equipment, including radiographic and fluoroscopic units.

b. Ensure the functionality of digital imaging devices and systems.

4. Image Quality Assurance

a. Remove any materials that may obstruct imaging quality.

b. Select appropriate imaging techniques and settings based on patient needs.

c. Evaluate images for diagnostic accuracy and take corrective actions as necessary.

5. Professional Development

a. Engage in continuous learning to stay updated with technological advancements in imaging.

b. Participate in training programs to enhance skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

1. Education: Graduate of an accredited two-year radiologic technology program.

2. Experience: Minimum of six months of relevant experience preferred.

3. Licenses/Certifications: Must hold a valid Radiologic Technologist license in Massachusetts.

Work Schedule:

Part-time availability required.
