Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Deck and Remodel Carpenter to join our team at Lyman Lumber Company. As a key member of our construction crew, you will be responsible for installing and repairing decks, fences, and other outdoor structures, as well as remodeling interior spaces.

Key Responsibilities
  • Adhere to safety protocols and regulations, maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
  • Communicate effectively with crew members and foremen, prioritizing daily tasks and following instructions.
  • Study blueprints and building plans to prepare project layouts and determine materials required.
  • Measure, calculate, and mark cutting lines on materials accurately, using hand tools and machines.
  • Assemble and fasten materials to make framework or props, using hand tools and wood screws.
  • Select and supply crew members with materials, ensuring proper nailing procedures.
  • Use hand, pneumatic, and power tools to measure, cut, and install sheathing for walls and roofs.
  • Finish and inspect work to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Keep the jobsite clean and safe, complying with the company's attendance policy.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of an apprenticeship program, certificate, or degree program in carpentry technology preferred.
  • Less than 1 year of carpentry experience in the commercial and/or residential sectors required.
Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of standard methods, practices, principles, tools, and equipment used in the carpentry trade.
  • Knowledge of various woods and materials, including their qualities and adaptability.
  • Basic knowledge of state codes and procedures, including energy codes.
  • Good work ethic, attitude, and reliability.
  • Ability to communicate, read, comprehend, and comply with company policies and procedures.
