Key Responsibilities- Assist physicians and staff with daily patient care coordination and access.
- Function as a liaison between patients, staff, and physicians to ensure seamless communication and care.
- Maintain efficient patient flow and prioritize patient care by implementing physician orders and nursing procedures.
- Deliver direct patient care within the scope of licensure and in accordance with Summit Health policy.
- Collect lab specimens and accurately label them according to departmental guidelines.
- Prioritize patient care by implementing physician orders and nursing procedures.
- Ensure proper preparation for patient visits and prepare pertinent information needed for patient visits.
- Effectively communicate problems, concerns, or issues to the Office Supervisor/Manager appropriately and promptly.
- Assure all patients are correctly identified prior to providing and/or documenting care.
- Employs appropriate and timely use of Tasking in EHR.
- Obtain vital signs, administer injections, and demonstrate telephone triage protocols and document in EHR.
- Schedule appointments and adhere to universal safety precautions when administering medications and disposal of medical waste.
- Review and update medication lists in EHR and demonstrate understanding of prescription control and prescription refill procedures.
- Enter orders and schedules appointments in the Practice Management System (PMS) and EHR.
- Provide referrals and/or consult orders appropriately and in a timely manner in the PMS and EHR.
- Check and maintain logs for emergency equipment according to policy.
- Facilitate transition of care to UCC/Hospital.
- Maintain proficiency with department-specific equipment and troubleshoot and report malfunctions promptly.
- Associate degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- New Jersey State Nursing License and BLS certification required.
- 0-1 years experience; 2-4 years experience preferred.
- Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to perform diverse work assignments with time limitations with a high degree of accuracy.
- Ability to use problem-solving, critical thinking, and priority-setting skills.
- Experience with Standard Office Equipment (Phone, Fax, Copy Machine, Scanner, Email/Voice Mail) preferred.
- Experience with Standard Office Technology in a Window-based environment preferred.
- Experience with patient care equipment preferred.
- Experience with EHR, Practice Management System, and Departmental/Ancillary Systems preferred.
- Ability to commute to satellite offices as needed.
