INNOVATION IS OUR STRENGTH. This is our legacy and our vision for the future. At Mattel, we don't merely produce toys; we craft imaginative products and experiences that captivate fans, entertain audiences, and nurture children's development through play. Our success is rooted in ensuring that every team member feels valued, included, and empowered to express their true selves while delivering their best work daily. We embrace a diverse array of ideas and perspectives that enrich our collective vision, extending across all our brands, partners, and suppliers.
The Team:
Our facility serves as a fulfillment center catering to three distinct customer channels. The primary channel is Direct to Consumer, characterized by its seasonal fluctuations, particularly a significant increase in capacity during the fourth quarter, operating across two shifts. Additionally, we provide consumer services, including returns processing and an onsite doll care center, along with value-added services such as gift wrapping and doll ear piercing. As part of the Mattel North American distribution network, we collaborate to manage and transport inventory, balancing capacity across the network to support our partner business units.
Position Overview:
The Associate Manager of Operations Services plays a pivotal role in delivering operational excellence within a dynamic, high-volume, multi-shift distribution center. This role leverages various Warehouse Management Systems, advanced conveyor automation, and a Pick-to-Light system to optimize the Direct to Consumer fulfillment process. Key responsibilities include overseeing multiple facets of the facility's order fulfillment operations, such as inventory oversight, enhancing order processing efficiency, and surpassing customer service benchmarks.
Your Contributions:
Lead, manage, and direct daily operations of designated fulfillment functions and teams, which may encompass DTC, BtoB, retail fulfillment, inventory management, special handling, value-added services, shipping, returns processing, and doll care services.
- Monitor and evaluate key performance indicators for the distribution center, focusing on metrics such as productivity, quality, service time, order accuracy, and inventory precision.
- Initiate productivity enhancement initiatives to meet established targets.
- Oversee staff training programs to ensure the distribution center meets its objectives.
- In collaboration with the Director, assess short-term and long-term labor requirements based on sales forecasts, inventory levels, market trends, and other critical factors.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement by identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions based on data-driven insights.
- Analyze operational challenges and propose optimized solutions regarding layout, space utilization, equipment needs, capital projects, and process modifications.
- Collaborate with team leaders to develop and execute plans that enhance the distribution center's efficiency by optimizing labor resources.
- Ensure a safe and healthy work environment by establishing, adhering to, and enforcing safety standards and procedures.
- Engage with corporate partners and other Mattel distribution centers to ensure compliance with internal and external requirements.
What We Seek:
Knowledge and Skills:
- Proficient in forecasting, planning, and budgeting; capable of developing workforce and business plans.
- Able to collaborate effectively with employees at all organizational levels.
- Skilled in fostering functional and cross-functional partnerships.
- Effective communicator in both written and verbal formats.
- Strong analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving abilities; adept at interpreting reports and data.
- Ability to influence both internal and external stakeholders.
- Solid mathematical skills, including the ability to compute percentages, volumes, costs, and time.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite.
- Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems.
- Bilingual (Spanish) preferred but not mandatory.
- Demonstrated growth mindset, characterized by curiosity, continuous learning, and embracing challenges.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- A minimum of five years of experience in an operations leadership role within a distribution center.
Our Work Culture:
At Mattel, we are driven by a purpose to empower generations to explore the joys of childhood and reach their full potential. We embody this purpose through the following principles:
- Collaboration: Being part of Mattel means being part of a unified team with shared values and goals. Every individual contributes, and teamwork consistently yields superior results. Our collective capabilities are our strength.
