Current medication certification from an accredited credentialing agency.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver nursing care within the defined scope of practice as per the Ohio Revised Code. Operate under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, licensed Physician, Dentist, Podiatrist, or Optometrist.
Execute skilled practical nursing tasks and treatments, including but not limited to: obtaining vital signs, administering oxygen, applying sterile dressings, inserting catheters, managing gastrostomy tubes, suctioning, wound care, administering enemas, douches, collecting specimens, providing enteral feedings, and administering both controlled and non-controlled medications via various routes (oral, rectal, topical, inhalation, subcutaneous, and intramuscular). Observe, document, and report patient conditions while taking appropriate actions. Provide comprehensive and informed reports of patient needs to the RN/Physician.
Facilitate patient education. Monitor patients during and after procedures. Assist RN and Physician as necessary. Respond to emergencies, provide first aid, perform CPR, and utilize AED in critical situations.Maintain medical accountability records and prepare necessary reports/forms (e.g., patient charts, medication administration records, unusual incident forms, seizure documentation forms, restraints logs, and other required documentation). Ensure thorough and accurate documentation, verify and implement Physician's orders.
Complete and maintain records for controlled drug administration/tracking, report any discrepancies in documentation immediately, and maintain infection control documentation. Keep work assignment records and documents organized. Ensure an adequately stocked and organized work area (i.e., ordering, inventorying, delivering/obtaining supplies). Communicate with pharmacy as needed to maintain medication inventory. Maintain assigned medical work areas (i.e., cleaning equipment, carts, cabinets, and storage areas) and perform daily cleaning tasks.Conduct clerical duties (i.e., answering phones, filing, copying, faxing).
Provide general nursing care and assist in the orientation and training of lower-level direct staff in delivering basic unskilled nursing care (e.g., feeding, dressing, bathing, transferring, and repositioning). Attend medical appointments and participate in meetings as required. Respond to patient alarms and assist in maintaining patient supervision levels as necessary.Consult with the Nursing Supervisor or the Director of Nursing regarding nursing needs or any matters related to nursing personnel.
Required Qualifications:
Active LPN License from the state of Ohio. Current CPR or BLS certification is mandatory.
