Job Summary:


A Millwright in the Machine Manufacturing industry is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of machinery and equipment within a manufacturing facility.

This role plays a crucial part in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of production processes, minimizing downtime, and optimizing machine performance.


Key Responsibilities:

Machine Installation:

  • Safely install and set up new machinery and equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications and engineering drawings.
  • Ensure proper alignment, leveling, and calibration of machines to ensure optimal functionality.

Preventive Maintenance:

  • Develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules to keep machinery in good working condition.
  • Conduct routine inspections, lubrication, and part replacements to prevent breakdowns and ensure safety.

Equipment Repair:

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in machines and equipment.
  • Perform repairs and replacements of faulty components, including bearings, gears, motors, and control systems.

Welding and Fabrication:

  • Utilize welding and fabrication skills to repair or modify machine components as needed.
  • Ensure welding work meets safety and quality standards.

Safety Compliance:

  • Adhere to safety protocols and promote a culture of safety in the workplace.
  • Identify and mitigate potential safety hazards associated with machinery and equipment.

Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities, including work orders, parts inventory, and equipment manuals.
  • Generate reports to track machine performance and maintenance history.

Collaboration:

  • Coordinate with other maintenance and production personnel to prioritize and schedule maintenance tasks.
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior maintenance staff.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to equipment upgrades and modifications to enhance efficiency and productivity.

Emergency Response:

  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and emergencies, working diligently to minimize production downtime.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; trade school certification or apprenticeship in Millwright or a related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Millwright or similar role in a machine manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and manuals.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problemsolving skills.
  • Welding and fabrication skills.
  • Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, and PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers).
  • Familiarity with hand and power tools used in maintenance and repair work.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and the ability to follow safety guidelines rigorously.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts and respond to emergency maintenance calls.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to lift heavy equipment and work in tight spaces.
