Job Overview:

The Financial Aid Counselor is accountable to the Director of Financial Aid and plays a pivotal role in assisting online students enrolled in LSUO programs with the financial aid application process.

This role aims to support students comprehensively by ensuring effective communication practices with students and their families, adhering to established guidelines, and collaborating within a dedicated team in the Financial Aid Office.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Communication (40%): Engage with prospective and current students through face-to-face meetings, phone calls, and email correspondence to provide essential information regarding financial assistance applications and the availability of federal, state, and institutional funding.

Utilize knowledge of institutional policies and procedures to interpret and relay information accurately.

2. Processing (40%): Collaborate with students and their families to ensure all necessary documentation is submitted.
Guide students on maintaining or regaining eligibility for various financial aid programs. Review applications for accuracy and determine if additional information is required.

3. Collaboration (15%): Demonstrate the ability to assist in various areas within the office and promote a team-oriented environment.

4. Other Duties: Perform additional responsibilities as assigned (5%).

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree required.

Proven counseling skills and experience. Familiarity with automated data processing systems and Title IV regulations, policies, and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree.

3-5 years of experience in a higher education setting.

Salary Range: $30,000.00 - $34,000.00
