Job Summary:

At Hotel Metro, we are seeking a skilled Restaurant Server to join our team. As a Restaurant Server, you will be responsible for providing exceptional service to our guests, ensuring their dining experience is memorable and enjoyable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greets guests promptly and makes them feel welcome.
  • Leads guests through the dining experience, providing food and beverage service in a professional and efficient manner.
  • Answers questions, makes recommendations, and creates a positive atmosphere for guests.
  • Must be knowledgeable about the menu, ingredients, and cooking techniques, as well as drink recipes and pricing.
  • Takes orders accurately and inputs them into the point-of-sale system.
  • Communicates allergy and dietary restriction information clearly and retrieves and delivers food and beverage orders in a timely manner.
  • Replenishes beverages and ensures guest satisfaction throughout the meal service.
  • Serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Clears plates at the appropriate time and asks for help when needed.
  • Responsible for crumbing the table and maintaining a clean and orderly serving station.
  • Presents the check and handles transactions, including receiving payment and accurately counting back change.
  • Keeps the table areas and bar clean and properly stocked.
  • Gives every table a sincere thank you and farewell.
  • Responds graciously to guest service issues and reports them to Restaurant Management.

Requirements:

  • Ability to think and communicate clearly in high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to move quickly and gracefully throughout the dining room.
  • Demonstrate basic math skills and excellent reading, writing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledgeable about the menu, ingredients, and cooking techniques, as well as drink recipes and pricing.
  • Ability to confidently make food and beverage pairing recommendations.
  • Ability to execute professional wine service.
  • Knowledgeable about pre-check register operation and computer operations.
  • Knowledgeable about basic sanitation.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers, co-workers, and supervisors.
  • Ability to maintain excellent attendance and punctuality.

Experience:

  • Previous bartending, serving, and/or customer service experience.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand and exert fast-paced mobility for periods of 4 hours or more with a high energy level.
  • Ability to lift 15-30 pounds and exert fast-paced mobility between the dining room and kitchen for periods of up to 4 hours in length.
