Position Overview
Are you ready to take the next step in your career? We are seeking a skilled Fiber Optic Splicing Technician to contribute to the advancement of telecommunications infrastructure. In this role, you will be responsible for executing fiber splicing tasks as part of the construction of outside plant telecommunications, ensuring that all work meets the standards set by our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Splice overhead, underground, or submarine multiple conductor cables under supervision.
- Climb utility poles or towers, operate truck-mounted lift-buckets, or descend into underground vaults as required.
- Remove sheath from installed cables to access defective areas, as well as cut and peel sheath and insulation from newly installed cables and conductors.
- Conduct tests (tracing or phase identification) on each conductor to determine corresponding conductors in adjacent cables using testing equipment.
- Read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and digital drawings, maps, blueprints, and diagrams.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- 0-1 years of experience as a fiber splicer, particularly in outside plant or system installations, with a strong ability to work from blueprints and specifications.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Ability to lift heavy objects as necessary.
