Treatment Specialist

Join Berks County as a Treatment Counselor and contribute to the delivery of high-quality services to our community.

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Treatment Counselor to join our team. As a Treatment Counselor, you will be responsible for providing counseling services to inmates, addressing their concerns through case-management, and coordinating institutional programs.

• Conduct group and individual counseling sessions
• Address inmate concerns through case-management
• Coordinate institutional programs, including employment, earned time, and volunteer programs
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of inmate records
• Serve as a liaison to community providers, including parole authorities and treatment service providers
• Collect and distribute communication forms to inmates

• Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a closely related field
• Two years of documented direct counseling experience in an agency or government setting
• Ability to lift and carry files and documents weighing up to 16 pounds
• Ability to ambulate frequently and stand for periods up to two hours

This role requires working within the confines of a secure prison, which may involve loud, small, and non-private workspaces. You will be expected to work in an environment where personal safety may be a concern and where there is a possibility of foul odors.
